Welcome to our ever first blog post! Usually, folks try and save the best for last but we just couldn't wait to share with y'all about one of our all-time favorite, kid-friendly watering holes.
Where do we even begin? We LOVE this place!!
Salt Creek Cider House in Dallas, OR is one of the most chill, family-friendly, and delicious spots in the area. Not only is their cider simply sensational, but this family farm is owned by a couple of the coolest cats around - Carter and Lindy Rickert (and their equally awesome kiddos.) Our first time visiting in 2019, they made us feel like family and this level of hospitality has only grown over the years. Their farm is beautiful - picturesque really - and is just the best escape from the hustle and bustle of city-life (or the craziness of your own home - trust us, we know.) If you're on your way to the coast driving along Highway 22, make a stop and grab a growler (or three) to go. You won't regret it!
Carter and Lindy have stayed very busy and the Covid-19 pandemic hasn't kept them down. They have made some amazing upgrades to their property including a large covered patio overlooking the duck pond, kids play structure, additional seating spaces, and a stage for hosting some of the area's most awesome musical talent. Visit their website to check out their event calendar - it's jam-packed with fun that you simply don't want to miss, including Cider+Yoga and rustic sign-painting parties.
Weekends are filled with live music and usually an accompanying food truck. Carter whips up a mean charcuterie board for only a few bucks which pairs great with all their cider flavors. Picnicking is encouraged as they have tons of green-space to accommodate you and your crazy crew. If for some reason cider isn't your thing, they have a beer or two on draft typically from neighboring Parallel 45 Brewery in Independence (their own Tots Blog review coming soon!)
If we haven't convinced you yet, they also have an awesome Cider Club and as a member, you get discounts on all purchases as well as invites to their twice-yearly solstice cider pick-up parties. Run, don't walk, to Salt Creek Cider House! If you see us there, say hi and let us know you're favorite flavor. We love them all, with Rebel Rose (apple+marionberry) as a favorite of ours, but their seasonal creations simply cannot be missed!
What to expect when you visit:
Some of the best cider in the Willamette Valley (apple, pear, marionberry, & cherry with seasonal offerings, too!)
Super awesome hosts
Kid-friendly accommodations including diaper-changing station, play area, green space to frolick around
Indoor seating & outdoor seating with shade
Live music events, rotating weekend food truck
Outside food is okay!
